State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Process

Xeomin® is made through a unique precision manufacturing process that isolates the therapeutic component of the molecule and removes the accessory proteins that don’t play an active role in treatment. Xeomin® is a highly purified neurotoxin.

Studies have not been performed to determine whether the presence or absence of accessory proteins has a long-term effect on safety or efficacy.

How It Works

When you squint or frown, the muscles contract causing the skin to furrow and fold. Gradually, as your skin ages and loses some of its elasticity, these repeated contractions can cause persistent upper facial lines.

Neurotoxins, such as Xeomin®, are prescription medications that block the release of chemicals that cause these muscle contractions so frown lines are softened. IncobotulinumtoxinA is the active ingredient in XEOMIN®. It acts on the nerve endings in muscle tissue to reduce the ability  of the muscle to contract.

What is involved in a Xeomin® Treatment?

Pre Treatment
A full medical history will be taken prior to your procedure and you will have an opportunity to discuss the treatment in full with your Cosmetic Nurse. You will need to complete a consent form before treatment.
Treatment
Minute doses of Xeomin® is injected directly into the muscles which cause the dynamic facial wrinkles.
Aim
The treatment with Xeomin® aims to produce relaxation in the targeted facial muscles in order to smooth lines of the skin. Onset of relaxation within 4 to 14 days with the average time being 7 days. The effects lasts approximately 3-6 months, but will elongate with subsequent injections. Continuing for 5 to 10 years will have the effect of delaying the ageing process for many years to come.
After Care
  • Don’t rub the treated area for 12 hours.
  • Don’t lie down for 4 hours after the treatment.  Avoid tilting your head for the same period.
  • Actively use your facial muscles as much as possible in the first hour after treatment.
  • If you think you have suffered from an adverse reaction to treatment, contact your Cosmetic Nurse immediately.
